EDMUND THE OLD HOUSE

Edmund the house lived at No. 8 Urquart St Northcote, on the banks of the Merri Creek, until he was demolished 5 years ago to make way for townhouse apartments. Edmund was a farmhouse and was built in the 1890's before Northcote had all of its roads built. Chris has been making models of Edmund, writing stories about him and animating movies with Edmund as the lead actor for the last 5 years.

This fragment of Edmund is a time machine, revealing layers of real and imagined histories, transporting people back to when 'something happened' in the front room.

Chris and Bernadette have been working together for over 3 years, sharing a passion for model making, animation, architecture, Google Sketch up and Beetlejuice.

Bernadette Trench-Thiedeman

Bernadette Trench-Thiedeman is a multi-disciplinary artist/performer who works with animation, digital media, painting, drawing, sculpture, spatial design , installation and theatre making.

She has received Australian and international commissions, including from the Ice Hotel Sweden, the Melbourne International Food and Wine festival, and from private collectors. She has toured with the giant puppet company the Snuff Puppets, and has puppeteered for Lyric Opera, Museum Victoria and independent theatre companies.

For the past 10 years she has worked as a visual and performing arts facilitator for organizations such as Marninwarntikura Fitzroy Women's Resource Centre, Mangkaja Arts, Theatre Kimberley, Goolarri Media Enterprises, Arts Access Victoria, Arts Project Australia and the Melbourne Museum. She is also a founding member of the Merri Corner Community Garden in Brunswick, Victoria.
